1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information.

The Momo extension only processes:

• Japanese text you hover your mouse over while browsing websites
• Translation results that are cached locally in your browser for faster access

We do NOT collect, store, or have access to:

• Your browsing history
• Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
• Website content beyond the text you hover over
• Any form of tracking or analytics data

2. How We Use Information

When you hover over Japanese text:

• The text is sent to Jisho.org API for translation purposes only
• The translation result is cached locally in your browser to improve performance and reduce API requests
• JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) level information is looked up from a local database bundled with the extension

All processing happens locally in your browser. We do not have access to any of this data.

3. Data Sharing

We do not share your data with any third parties, except:

• Jisho.org: Japanese text is sent to their API solely for translation. Please review Jisho.org's privacy policy for how they handle this data.

We do not:

• Sell or rent any data
• Share data with advertisers
• Use analytics or tracking services
• Store data on external servers

4. Data Storage

All data stored by Momo remains local to your browser:

• Translation Cache: Stored in your browser's local storage to speed up repeated lookups
• JLPT Database: A static database of Japanese words and their proficiency levels, stored as part of the extension
• Onboarding Status: A simple flag indicating whether you've seen the welcome guide

You can clear this data at any time by:

• Removing the extension from Chrome
• Clearing your browser's local storage

5. Permissions Explanation

The extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: Required to read Japanese text on the webpage you're viewing when you activate the extension
• storage: Required to cache translation results locally for better performance and to save your onboarding status
• https://jisho.org/*: Required to fetch translation data from the Jisho.org dictionary API

6. Third-Party Services

This extension uses the following third-party service:

• Jisho.org API: An online Japanese-English dictionary. When you hover over Japanese text, it is sent to Jisho.org to retrieve translation data. Jisho.org operates independently and has its own privacy policy.

7. Children's Privacy

Momo does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is designed to be a simple translation tool with no data collection.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
